The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890, with Mrs. Benjamin Harrison, First Lady of the United States at the time, serving as the first President General. For a number of years, the Society conducted its meetings in the private homes of its members. In 1902, the Society purchased the site for Memorial Continental Hall. Construction began later that same year and concluded in 1910. The magnificent Beaux-Arts building was designed by architect Edward Pearce Casey. In 1973, Memorial Continental Hall was designated a Registered National Historic Landmark.
